Code of Conduct
for TEDxTeessideWomen 2024Our Code of Conduct at TEDx Teesside Women reflects our core values of curiosity, friendliness, open-mindedness, and respect. We aim to transcend limitations, boundaries, categories, and labels to address the societal challenges we encounter. This Code of Conduct applies to all members of the TEDx Teesside Women community, including speakers, volunteers, staff, and attendees. By participating in our events, you are committing to upholding these values with honesty, transparency, and integrity.

By being part of TEDxTeessideWomen, you agree to the following values and behaviours:
Look Out for Each Other: Show consideration and support for your fellow TEDsters - speakers, staff, volunteers, and attendees.
Zero Discrimination: Understand that any form of discrimination, such as homophobia, racism, ableism, sexism, misogyny, or transphobia, is not tolerated at any time or in any context related to TEDx Teesside Women, whether online or offline.
Respect Privacy: Respect the privacy of others; always ask for permission before taking pictures or selfies of individuals you do not know.
Maintain Respectful Behaviour: Disruptive behaviour, excessive alcohol consumption, stalking, following, or threatening others will not be tolerated and will be reported to the appropriate authorities when necessary.
Respectful Language: Use the names and pronouns that people have asked you to use for them. Don’t assume someone’s gender or pronouns, and avoid using gendered language to refer to people whose pronouns you don’t know - e,g. use “they” instead of “he” or “she”, “person” instead of “man” or “woman”.
No Tolerance for Abuse of Power: There is absolutely no tolerance for abuses of power, including those related to position, wealth, race, or gender.
Zero Tolerance for Sexual Harassment: Any form of sexual harassment, encompassing unwelcome sexual attention and inappropriate physical contact, will not be tolerated.
Reporting Violations: If you witness or experience behaviour that goes against TEDx Teesside Women's Code of Conduct, please report it using our online reporting form.

TEDxTeessideWomen is committed to upholding and enforcing this Code of Conduct:
Thorough Investigation: We will investigate any reported incident that violates the Code of Conduct using our reporting system to ensure a prompt response.
Confidentiality: All reported incidents will be treated with discretion and confidentiality.
Enforcement: We reserve the right to exclude individuals who violate our Code of Conduct from attending TEDx Teesside Women, either partially or entirely (without refund). We may also terminate speaking or volunteering arrangements immediately and, when necessary, cooperate with law enforcement.
Respect Privacy: We respect the privacy and confidentiality requests of our TEDsters - speakers, staff, volunteers, and attendees.
Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: We do not tolerate homophobia, racism, transphobia, ableism, sexism, or any discriminatory behaviour. We actively work to educate and raise awareness about marginalised groups through our events.
Abuse of Power: We strictly oppose any abuses of power, including those related to position, wealth, race, or gender. Our interactions, both internal and external, are based on honesty, transparency, and integrity.
Anti-Sexual Harassment: We have zero tolerance for any form of sexual harassment. We actively work to educate and raise awareness about sexual harassment and gender inequality through our events.
Safe Debate and Discussion: We strive to create an environment that encourages open debate and discussion while respecting the boundaries, safety, and integrity of our TEDsters - speakers, staff, volunteers, and attendees.
